The Rose Bud Program

A special part of the International Festival, the Rose Bud program celebrates young women of Irish Heritage. The Rose Buds program pairs them with inspiring Roses for Rose festivities. This provides a beautiful friendship between Rose Buds and Roses that lasts a lifetime.

We are accepting applications for Rose Buds that meet the following criteria:

1. Have Irish heritage.

2. Are between the ages of 4 and 10.

3. Available for an event on the morning of Saturday, June 1st. As well, as the afternoon of Sunday, June 2nd. A parent or guardian must be available to accompany the Rose bud for the events.

4. Live in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Each Rose Bud will be celebrated at our Rose Bud party, on June 1st. They will receive a Rose Bud sash, a goodie bag, and be honoured on stage June 2nd at the 2024 Newfoundland & Labrador Rose of Tralee Gala.

Our 2022 Rose Bud

We are very pleased to introduce our 2022 Newfoundland & Labrador Rose of Tralee Rose Bud, Clodagh Rose Ring. Clodagh is 5 years old and she is excited to start kindergarten in September. She has been in gymnastics and dance (tap and ballet) for the past two years. Clodagh plans to start with the St. Pat's Dancers this year, and start Irish dancing when she is old enough. She loves to dance and sing, and she especially loves to sing all the Irish songs that her Mother has been teaching her. When Clodagh grows up, she plans to be a doctor. She has a big brother, Ronan, and a little sister, Norah. Clodagh has been to Ireland a number of times and the family plan to go again in August. Her mother was born in Cork, Ireland and her father is from Newfoundland with Irish roots.
